Helios : How to update firmware and Web Interface on 39xxHD & 39xxSD series

Environment:

• Helios
• 3960SD series 
• 3960HD series 

Current firmware release (don't not mix firmware between models)

• 3960SD series: Firmware- v3.00.97 | Web Interface- webSvr_6_01_114
• 3960HD series: Firmware- v3.03.196 | Web Interface- webSvr_6_06_129

Before you begin:

• For current versions of software, contact Technical Support.
• Please have the camera information (model series, model number current firmware, and Web Interface version) available when you call.
• Unzip the files Technical Support sends you. When unzipped, the file extension should say *.tar.
• HD-3 Series Cameras, if the Camera Firmware is less than 1.60, it will be necessary to upload a file size patch file before updating the Camera Firmware or Web Interface. (The 8051 firmware is loaded as part of the Camera Firmware.)
• SD-3 Series Cameras, if the Camera Firmware is less than 1.95, it will be necessary to upload a file size patch file before updating the Camera Firmware or Web Interface. (The 8051 firmware is loaded as part of the Camera Firmware.)
  
  

Procedure:

1. The user must be logged in as Admin in order to upgrade firmware.
2. Click the camera setup button from the camera configuration/control menu.
3. Click the Upgrade button.
   
4. Clicking the Upgrade button will open the Cohu camera Information & Upgrade page. The page provides information about the camera, current software version, and component versions. Follow instructions on the page to upgrade your firmware and web interface versions. Shown in diag 2
   
5. Download the desired software update for firmware and Web interface to your computer.
6. Firmware upgrade: Click the browser button in the camera firmware section and find the previously saved new firmware upgrade file.
7. Click the start upgrade button. Caution: Make sure to install the correct file of the firmware during the upgrade process. shown in diag 3
   
8. CAUTION: The upgrade process takes approximately 12 minutes. Do not interrupt it.
9. A series of screens will be displayed:
10. The third screen will tell you that the firmware upgrade process is completed. If you have any questions, contact the Technical support group. shown in diag 4 
    
11. Web interface upgrades: Click the browse button in the web interface section and find the previously saved new web interface upgrade file.
12. Click the Start Web Update button. CAUTION: Make sure to install the correct file of the Web Interface during the upgrade process. shown in diag 5
    
13. CAUTION: The upgrade process takes approximately 2 minutes. Do not interrupt it. A series of screens will be displayed.
14. The third screen will tell you that the Web Interface upgrade process is completed. If you have any
    questions, contact the Technical Support group. shown in diag 6
