If your cameras do not support link-local or zero-config IP addressing, you can manually add them to your XDI recorder. When you add cameras to a recorder using the method below, you must configure your cameras using their native interfaces; you will not be able to configure cameras that you add manually through the XDI recorder.
- Manually configure the XDI's camera network settings.
- Right click the cell containing the camera and select Camera Registration.
- Click Scan and select Third Party Scan.
- Click Advanced Setup and change Type to Manual, and then click OK.
NOTE: The default address for the camera network is 10.10.254.254.
- Click OK to close the Third Party Scan, and then click Apply to return to the live view.
- Right click the cell containing the camera and select Camera Registration.
- Plug your computer into one of the XDI unit's PoE or Video EXT ports. You can find these ports on the rear of the unit.
- Set your computer's IP address to 10.10.254.3.
- Plug your cameras into the DVR's PoE ports, or the network switch connected to the DVR's Video EXT port.
- On your computer, run the software or network scanning tools for your cameras to find them on the network.
- After you find your cameras, manually set them to use IP addresses in the range of the XDI's Camera network of the XDI. By default, the XDI camera network range is 10.10.254.1- 10.10.254.253.
- Make any other changes that you would like to make to the cameras directly — set Frame Rate, Resolution, Motion, Date, Time and Compression. You will not be able to change settings for these cameras through the XDI; you can only configure direct IP-connected cameras through their native interfaces.
- After you set up your cameras, return to the XDI recorder, right-click the live image, and select Camera Registration.
- Click Scan and select Third Party Scan.
- Select the protocol that the camera uses to communicate with the recorder. If you don't know the protocol, select ONVIF Conformance.
- Go to Advanced Settings, make sure that Type is still set to Manual, and then click OK.
- Click Search. When the XDI recorder locates your cameras, they will appear in the list on the left.
Troubleshooting: If the recorders cannot locate the cameras please power down the recorder for 30 seconds and power the recorder back up. - When the scan completes, click Close.
- Right-click your new camera(s) in the list, and click Add Camera.
- Enter the User name and Password for the camera, and click OK. The XDI recorder uses these credentials to authenticate with the camera.
- Click Apply. The recorder returns you to the live view. Your new camera should appear in the matrix.
NOTE: Verify that your cameras are recording. Recording is indicated by a red dot in the top right of camera images. If you see a yellow running person on a live camera image, go to Event > Video Analytics and enable motion recording on for that camera.
