Important Notes:
- AV IP Utility is for firmware version 65192 or higher.
- If the firmware is version 65191 or earlier, a different tool, Firmware Loader must be used.
For best results see the below:
- Direct connect to the camera with a PoE injector for best results.
- Before any firmware or hardware update, disconnect any devices streaming from the camera (i.e. remove it from the NVR, close web pages to it).
- Disable any firewall or security software on the workstation.
- Disable any wireless adapters.
Application setup:
- Download and install AV IP Utility v3+ or higher: https://sales.arecontvision.com/software.php
- Launch the application with administrative privileges.
- The program will perform an auto discovery for Arecont Vision cameras regardless of what IP address has been assigned to the camera.
- Cameras highlighted in yellow were just recently discovered.
- Cameras highlighted in green are accessible.
- Cameras highlighted in pink are on a different network scheme than the computer.
- Double click on any accessible camera to open a web interface to it.
View Options:
To adjust camera auto discovery:
- Click File > Preferences.
- Update Timeout (ms): 3000 (default setting)
- Camera Auto Discovery: Enabled by default
To manually refresh the information for a single camera:
- Click on a camera.
- Click View > Erase / Refresh Selected.
To manually refresh the information for all cameras:
- Click View > Erase / Refresh All
To view detailed information for a specific camera:
- Click on a camera.
- Click View > View Selected.
- The Camera Parameters window will appear.
To view detailed information for all cameras discovered:
- Click View > View All.
- The Camera Parameters window will appear.
- This may take some time if there is a large amount of cameras.
Camera Options:
To manually add a camera not discovered by the software:
- Click Camera > Add Manually.
- Enter the camera IP address and click OK.
- The device will populate the list.
To edit specific camera information:
- Click on a camera.
- Click Camera > Modify.
- The Dialog window will appear with 4 tabs.
- Image
- Exposure
- H.264
- Network and Admin
- Edit the required parameters and click OK.
To export camera parameters to a *.CSV file:
- Select a camera or press Ctrl + A to select all cameras.
- Click Camera > Export.
- Specify a filename and location on your computer to save the file.
To import camera parameters from a *.CSV file:
- Click Discovery on the upper left and wait for the cameras to populate.
- Click Camera > Import.
- Browse to the location where you saved a previous AV IP Utility *.csv file and click Open.
To permanently save changes to the camera so they are retained after a reboot:
- Click on a camera.
- Click Camera > Save to Flash.
To reboot a camera:
- Click on a camera.
- Click Camera > Reboot.
To factory reset a camera:
- Click on a camera.
- Click Camera > Factory Reset and select one of the below.
- Image settings only
- Image and Network Settings
To set a static IP address on a camera:
- Click on a camera.
- Click Camera > Set IP Address and select one of the below.
- Input IP
- Use IP Address - Specify the IP address you want the camera to use.
- Click OK.
- Refresh the software or wait for it to be rediscovered at the new IP address.
- Open the webpage to the camera and click Network. Ensure the DHCP option is not selected.
- Verify the Subnet Mask and Gateway (if applicable) are populated.
- Click Apply and Save or Save to Flash (depending on the model).
- Click Save All Params at the top (depending on the model).
- Reboot the camera and verify the settings took effect.
- Use CSV (not common)
- Input IP
To reset a camera to DHCP:
- Click on a camera.
- Click Camera > Set IP Address > Input IP > Use DHCP.
- Click OK.
- Refresh the software or wait for it to be re-discovered at the new IP address.
To edit the timeout interval for a specific camera:
- Click on a camera.
- Click Camera > Set Timeout.
- Adjust the time (default 3000) in milliseconds to suit your needs.
To perform a firmware update:
- Verify the below before applying any firmware update.
- Direct connect to the camera with a PoE injector for best results.
- Disconnect any devices streaming from the camera (i.e. remove it from the NVR, close web pages to it).
- Disable any firewall or security software on the workstation.
- Disable any wireless adapters.
- Download and extract the firmware update to your desktop.
- Click on a camera.
- Click Camera > Firmware Update.
- Browse to the firmware update and click Open.
- An Update Progress window will appear and the camera will reboot.
- The camera should be displayed at the new version.
To perform a hardware update:
- Verify the below before applying any hardware update.
- Direct connect to the camera with a PoE injector for best results.
- Disconnect any devices streaming from the camera (i.e. remove it from the NVR, close web pages to it).
- Disable any firewall or security software on the workstation.
- Disable any wireless adapters.
- Download and extract the firmware update to your desktop.
- Click on a camera.
- Click Camera > Hardware Update.
- Browse to the hardware update and click Open.
- An Update Progress window will appear and the camera will reboot.
- The camera will repopulate.
To edit the camera's NTP setting (old models are not supported):
- Click on a camera.
- Click Camera > Set Date/Time.
- Choose one of the below options.
- NTP Server
- Local Computer System
- Click Apply.
Discovery Options:
To enable or disable Autodiscover:
- Click Discovery > Autodiscover.
- If a checkmark is present, auto-discovery is on.
- If a checkmark is not present, auto-discovery is off.
To perform a broadcast search:
- Click Discovery > Broadcast.
To perform a multicast search:
- Click Discovery > Multicast.
Password Options:
To reset a password on a camera:
- Click on a camera.
- Click Passwords > Reset Passwords > Create Nonce / Magic Code File.
- Save and email this file to Technical Support (support@arecontvision.com).
- Do not do anything else with the camera until you upload the file provided by Technical Support.
- Click Passwords > Reset Passwords > Reset Passwords.
- Click Yes.
- Click OK.
- Locate the key that was provided by Technical Support and click Open.
- The camera status should change from Pwd Protected to Accessible within 30 seconds.
