- Connect the camera(s) to the open P.o.E. ports on the back of the XDI recorder. If using an external P.o.E switch, connect the camera(s) to an open P.o.E port on the switch and connect the switch to the EXT port on the back of the XDI recorder.
- Connect a PC/ laptop with the Costar Utility loaded to the EXT port on the back of the XDI recorder. If the EXT port is occupied connect to one of the P.o.E ports on the back of the XDI recorder, or to an open port on the external P.o.E. switch connected to the EXT port.
- Place the CD supplied with the camera into your laptop/ PC. Open the IPScan Tool folder. Click on the IPScan_v1.0.5.A1.201504011522.msi to start the installation.
- Once installed, click the IPScan Icon on the desktop.
- After opening the IPScan tool, select the Search top left. The cameras(s) will populate in the window below. If there is a DHCP server on the network, the camera will be assigned one. If there is not a DHCP server on the network, the camera will be found under the link-to-local address (169.xxx.xxx.xxx.)
- If there is not a DHCP server is on the network, right-click on the camera and select IP Setup. You will be prompted to log into the camera. The username is admin, and the password is admin.
- Select Static IP. Enter the IP address, Subnet Mask, and Gateway of the camera. The Camera Name is optional. Click Apply.
- Right-click on the camera and select Web Browser.
- You will be prompted to enter the username and password to access the webpage. The username is admin, and the password is admin.
- You will be prompted to change the default password. The webpage will open the System > User screen. Click on admin in the User box. Enter a New Password and Confirm that password. Please follow the password Requirements. When done click Edit. You will be prompted again to log in with the new password.
- From the Tree on the left, Select System > Date and Time. Change the Time Zone to match the recorder. Set Synchronization Mode to Computer unless an NTP server is used. Ensure this is the same NTP server used by the recorder. Click Save at the bottom.
- After saving, verify that the camera time, date, and time zone match the recorder. If it is off by 5 minutes or more, you will have lose functionality (Event triggers like motion).
- Once set, exit the webpage. Repeat steps 5 – 10 for all the CBI5S4IW cameras. The camera(s) are now ready to register to the XDI recorder. For instructions on how to register the camera(s) to the XDI recorder, please see the article below:
